Gen IV cam swaps
Many Gen IV LS truck engines can be equipped with AFM/DOD and some also use VVT. Before ordering a cam kit, verify whether your engine has AFM/DOD, VVT, and which cam gear style it uses.
Required Gen IV research
On Gen IV LS engines equipped with AFM/DOD, a cam swap usually requires deleting the AFM/DOD hardware and tuning it out. Some VVT-equipped engines may also need VVT delete or conversion parts depending on the camshaft kit. Before ordering, confirm whether the engine has AFM/DOD, VVT, and the correct cam gear style so the camshaft kit and delete parts match the build.
Gen IV cam kits should be planned as a complete cam swap package, including the camshaft, required AFM/DOD or VVT delete parts when needed, front timing cover gasket, crank bolt, and supporting valvetrain parts.
